The idea of Ourchild e.V. is rooted in private initiatives helping children in Chernobyl. With the 150th anniversary of Bad Sulza as a children’s health resort the time came to give these efforts a larger and more official basis.
Ourchild e.V. was founded as a charitable organisation by residents from Bad Sulza and surroundings, all of whom work in social and health care. As the name suggests, Ourchild is an opportunity to actively take responsibility for children, the weakest members of our society.
The ten projects in eight countries around the world for children living on the streets, for slum dwellers and the impoverished rural population are meant to be more than help in times of emergency. They are intended to help enable people to lead their own lives on their own initiative independent of outside help. The projects demonstrate that it is possible to actively counteract social and ecological impoverishment.
